Calligraphy on the move
by VJ Rhaps on Jul.27, 2009, under ANIMATIONS
Calligraphy, especially Arab and Eastern Asian calligraphy, can be a perfect base for animation movies. Those letters actually seem to scream: “Move us. Make us dance…!” Still it seems there are not that many calligraphic animation films you can find on the world wide web of videos. Here are a couple of nice ones though:
Another example of animated Arab words is the audio-visual performance “Ya Sharr Mout” (Arab: depending on the pronounciation this means either “son of a bitch” or “oh, evil, die”) by Lebanese composer Mahmoud Turkmani and the author of this video log. This work, which has been censored in many Arab countries, can be purchased at Enja Records.
The art of video collage

For a few years the editor of this video log has been working on the craft of video montage or video collage. So he is always pleased if he finds other masters of the art,
such as Laurent Perret and his beautifully crafted weird-o-rama:
And now for something completely…

Different, indeed, is the reaction of Monty Python to the fact that their clips were put on youtube (illegally) by dozens of fans. Instead of giving hell to those humor loving youtube users by sueing them, the legendary British comedy group started their own youtube account and began uploading original clips in high quality… you can watch for free, of course. One category is particularily fun: “World Financial Meltdown Special”, including classics such as this:
By the way sales of DVDs skyrocketed after Monty Python opened their own youtube account… their sales on amazon increased by 23’000 per cent!!! Maybe the big corporations of the entertainment industry will learn the lesson. Or they will soon earn so little their CEOs will have to be fed on SPAM before they die.

Toymatters is one of many short animation clips on LOKO TV, a Barcelona based animation platform.
If you like this you might also like the adventures of Wankboy, the stories of Superficial Friends (feat. Paris Hilton, Lindsey Lohan, Nicole Richie and the Olsen Twins) and all the other short clips with a lot of fluids, sex and madness.
Bricks moving

Great fun for any animation artist is to fool around with toys, especially the toys you fooled around when you were a kid. Now you can even make adult movies with your toys… in the brick movie genre even the sky is no limit. I particularily like this one:
A movie published by German brick movie outfit Go! Le Go!.
